Student Health Center Services
All students may utilize the Health Services at UNI. The Student Health Center is not equipped to handle medical emergencies. For medical emergencies, please dial 9-1-1 or visit the nearest emergency room. However, the Student Health Center is a good place to visit if you would like to schedule any of the following appointments:

Illness Evaluation
Injury Evaluation
Care for Chronic Illnesses
Urinary Tract Infection
Testing for Sexually Transmitted Illnesses
Allergy Shot

Schedule an Appointment
To schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center, you can call (319) 273-2009 or schedule an appointment online. There are certain services that CANNOT be scheduled online. For a list of those services, see the Student Health Center website: Appointment Scheduling
Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
All international students without a qualifying insurance plan should be enrolled in SHIP through the Student Health Center. For information about SHIP, visit the Student Health Center website: International Student Health Insurance Information. If you leave the country for a period of months or terminate your studies at UNI, please contact Connie Potter in order to hold or cancel your insurance plan. You can also contact her with any questions you have about SHIP or your SHIP enrollment status. To reach Connie, you can email her at connie.potter@uni.edu.
Mental Health
Counseling
The Student Health Center offers confidential counseling services to all UNI, International, and CIEP students. Each academic year (August - May), students may receive five free counseling sessions with a licensed therapist. After the five sessions have been completed, students may continue to receive counseling with a therapist, although their insurance will be charged for each session. However, the Student Health Center offers unlimited free counseling sessions with an intern for all students. Read more about counseling services online: Counseling Center. The Student Health Center also offers group counseling sessions for students who face similar situations. These groups meet weekly for 90 minutes and can help students to work through challenges with the help of their peers. There is an International Student group counseling session as well. Wellness Coaching
If you are looking to use your strengths to achieve wellness goals, Wellness Coaching may be for you! Wellness Coaching is free, confidential, and through Student Wellness Services on campus. For more information, visit their website: Wellness Coaching
Physical Wellness
Wellness Recreation Center
All students enrolled at UNI are able to use the Wellness Recreation Center (WRC) and its resources free of charge. The WRC is located across Hudson Road near the UNIDome and offers activities such as weight lifting, swimming, and rock climbing, in addition to numerous other sports and equipment for students to use. Fitness Classes
Students may choose to sign up for additional fitness classes for a cost. Classes range from cardio workouts to dance fitness. For a complete list of Fitness Classes offered through the WRC and their costs, see their Group Fitness webpage: Group Fitness
Gear Rental
Want to use equipment such as tents, and canoes outside of the WRC? You may be interested in renting gear from UNI. The WRC allows students to check out different equipment for recreational use for a short period of time. See details about equipment and costs on their website: Gear Rental
